The upcoming sequel to 2012's XCOM: Enemy Unknown needs a little more time to be developed, so 2K and Firaxis have announced XCOM 2 is getting delayed.

2K and Firaxis Games have announced XCOM 2 is being hit with a three-month delay as it’s slipped from a November release to a February 5, 2016 release.

According to the XCOM website, Firaxis has set a high bar for the sequel to 2012’s XCOM: Enemy Unknown, saying the studio needs a little more time to “make it the best possible game.” The developer wants XCOM 2 to have more depth, more replayability, and more investment in your soldiers and it hopes to do just that now that it has the additional time.

Firaxis has been releasing new information for XCOM 2 over the past few months as we've seen the game in action during its E3 2015 presentation and we also saw a new demo during Gamescom. The game appeared to be shaping up the be a sequel fans of the original game could look forward to, and with today's delay, we're sure Firaxis will be putting as much into the game as they believe to be necessary.

Pretty sure that lesson got learned after several high profile titles did just that. Too bad that lesson will quickly be forgotten the closer we get to the holidays.

Oh, well. this holiday season was getting crowded anyways.

Shadowrun hong kong, one piece pirate warriors, diablo 3 (recent patch), cities skylines expansion, fallout 4, and a few others.

      Balls and ass :(
It's a good thing they're taking their time, doing it right. Toying with my emotions like this is not a good thing however. I even have time off from work in December.

I... think I'm ok with this. I've already got a lot to play between Fallout, Battlefront, and hopefully Overwatch. This also frees up some cash for me to make a bad decision with BLOPS 3. D:

Maybe they're trying to write a plot that doesn't invalidate the entirety of what the player did in the first game.

As hyped up for that game as I am, I can't help but be relieved. November is a crazy month for games this year. There was no way I was going to be able to play all the games I wanted to anyway. Having one pushed back a bit isn't a bad thing.
