Square Enix has largely kept its PC/console and mobile gaming separate entities, especially in regards to Final Fantasy. However, that's about to change in September. The mobile effort from Square and DeNA, Final Fantasy: Record Keeper, is about to get its first piece of content from big brother MMORPG, Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, to help celebrate that game's second anniversary.

Record Keeper players will head to the realm of Eorzea to clear out a variety of Final Fantasy XIV dungeons. They'll also be able to play as either Thancred or Y'shtola from the underground organization known as The Scions of the Seventh Dawn. Thancred will bring along his own equipment and abilities, while Y'shtola can be used as a Conjurer.

More details about this update, as well as details on the second anniversary of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, are expected soon. Final Fantasy: Record Keeper is free-to-play on the App Store and Google Play store.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
