NCSoft and Carbine Studios are continuing to hammer out everything set to go in this fall's free-to-play update for WildStar. Today, they've taken a major step forward, announcing that the MMORPG's major update would enter its closed beta phase.

The closed beta is open to all WildStar subscribers, as well as non-subscribers that have a closed beta key. The update is set to debut some new elements into the game. This includes the new Alpha Sanctum story instance that ushers players into the game's story at an earlier stage. The update will also debut new quality-of-life improvements, the new (and retroactive) loyalty program that rewards players for spending C.R.E.D.D. and NCoin, and new early game scenarios.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
