Gamescom 2015: Destiny: The Taken King trailer packs in the story

Those concerned about the narrative aspect of Destiny may not have to worry about that so much if the latest trailer for the Taken King expansion is any indication.

Destiny is ready to continue its story with the upcoming expansion, The Taken King. Activision and Bungie brought a new trailer to Gamescom 2015, showing off some of the game's heroes and villains that will take center stage.

With Oryx aiming to take over the galaxy, the new Taken King trailer reveals some of his underlings that players will encounter. What some Destiny veterans might notice is that there appears to be several cutscenes spliced into the trailer, which is something of a change of pace from The Dark Below.

The Taken King will also mark some big changes to Destiny, including an overhauled leveling and loot system and even a whole new Dinklebot... that isn't really a Dinklebot at all. It's more of a Northbot, but that doesn't really roll off the tongue so well.

Anyway, check out the full trailer below. Destiny: The Taken King is set to release on September 15.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
