Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is aiming to take players back to the old days when chainsaws on guns were a completely new idea. Today, Microsoft and The Coalition have announced that the Gears of War remake is ready for pre-download and is celebrating by releasing the game's opening cinematic for all to see.

Those that pre-order the Ultimate Edition will also receive some select goodies. The Standard Edition will include Adam Fenix and Civilian Anya multiplayer skins and an Animated Inulsion weapon skin. The slightly-more expensive (at $59.99) Deluxe Edition will feature the aforementioned, as well as the Civilian Marcus Fenix and Aaron Griffin skins and the Deluxe Weapon Skin Pack.

Gears of War: Ultimate Edition is set to release on August 25 for Xbox One for $39.99, with a PC version also confirmed to be in development. Check out the opening cinematic below and also check out the behind-the-scenes video underneath that.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
