Square Enix has announced Rise of the Tomb Raider, which is currently a timed-exclusive Xbox One and Xbox 360 title, will be released on PC  in early 2016 while PlayStation 4 owners will have to wait an entire year to get their version in holiday 2016.

Since it was first announced, Microsoft has been touting Rise of the Tomb Raider as a timed-exclusive, although we didn't know just how long the exclusivity would last for. Now we know it'll last for at least for a few months on PC and a year for PS4, leaving fans of the 2013's Tomb Raider having to sit around for much longer than they would like to get their hands on the game on their platform of choice.

While the exclusivity isn't so bad for PC owners, who may need to be on Windows 10 in order to play, PlayStation 4 owners are certainly feeling the sting of timed-exclusive content. While Sony was able to secure timed exclusivity to Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's future downloadable content, we're sure other platforms won't have to wait an entire year for their turn playing the latest DLC.

We learned a great deal regarding Rise of the Tomb Raider during this year's E3, and its latest trailer has us counting the days until it's released on Xbox platforms. If you plan on waiting for its release on PC and PlayStation 4, we'll do our best not to spoil things for you.

We've reached out to Square Enix to verify if Rise of the Tomb Raider will be exclusive to Windows 10 or if it'll support other Windows OSes.
