Depth prepares for Shark Week with free multiplayer weekend

Digital Confectioners sure loves sharks, so the developer is taking this pre-Shark Week weekend to offer up a free weekend for its multiplayer "Divers vs. Sharks" bonanza, Depth.

It's the biggest week of the year for shark enthusiasts, as Shark Week is about to take the air over on Discovery Channel. No one is more aware of this than the people at Digital Confectioners, which is why this is a perfect weekend to offer free multiplayer for their "Divers vs. Sharks" multiplayer game, Depth.

Depth released in November of last year, offering up team-based multiplayer action between armed divers and armed-to-the-teeth sharks. The game has received several updates since its release, with the latest one coming last week in the form of the new Hide and Seek game mode. In this mode, a single player plays as the shark and must seek out enemy divers. Any divers that fall victim to the shark becomes a shark themselves until one side is left standing. The new update spans five new maps, including a community-made playground called Mausoleum.

For more on Depth, check out the game's Steam listing, as well as the most recent update page. The free weekend kicks off this Thursday at 10AM PT.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
