DNF Interview
by Maarten Goldstein, Sep 06, 2000 12:04pm PDTThe Stratos Group has an interview with Jess Crable, one of the programers working on Duke Nukem Forever. That should also tell you how much they talk about that game :) It is actually more of a "where are you from / what have you done" type of interview.

those bozo's are too busy saying how good life is and how "good" this game is gonna be.
i wonder what kind of bone<STRIKE>upthe</STRIKE>ass he was paid for
JC: "I think the most obvious answer is the interactivity, but there's so much more beyond that. The levels, artwork, story and weapons all blew me away."
is this the only way 3drealms can keep their fans "hangin on"?
garbage
but hey, they do have to work with a POS, buggy, slow,... engine.

I'm not smart enough to say which API is better, as long as it works I could care less. Voting for the right candidate; It's difficult to say really, I think Al and Joe are more apt to remove more freedoms than George and Dick. Religion vs Science... I'll stick with a quote from a Devo tune (you heard me, Devo) "God made man... He used the monkey to do the work." Roughly translated this means science has done nothing more than discover how God created the universe.
I'll leave you philosiphers with this: If knowledge is power, and power corrupts, then doesn't it stand to reason that knowledge corrupts? What keeps knowledge from corrupting?
Knowledge is knowing how to build a bomb. Wisdom is what tells you why you shouldn't.
Now that Epic has gone nVidia as well, the only thing saving this game is... the game.
If it kicks all ass, D3d won't even matter. Just as long as it kicks ass.

You know when kids reach that stage in their lives when they think they're highly educated, and have a few vocabulary words to throw around? Yeah, tremetal reminds me of the "I'm a smart hotshit" phase in life.

Now sit down and shut up, jabronis!
And where is my DNF? If those 3DR guys are reading this, they should be working on the game dammit, not being here.

i'm not directing this at a particular person, just the "d3d/opengl/glide sucks/rules" crowd in general. if you care to back up your claims or opinions with facts, please feel free. but if you don't know anything about the pros and cons of the different api's then kindly shut your face.

Too many variables to consider. They need to settle on an industry standard - what ever the absolute best standard for ALL platforms might be - and stick with that.
It sucks whale cock. Dammit, someone get on a soap box and preach it!

Glide was a proprietary api (up until recently, when 3dfx open sourced it). I don't know why nVidia won't make glide capable drivers (it would certainly make their customers happy). I've read that Glide is too tied to the Voodoo chipset to be easily used by other chipsets, but I don't know. IMHO, nVidia won't make Glide capable drivers because they don't want to give 3dfx any respectability at all, even if it hurts their own customer base.
