After reports surfaced last week of a Dark Souls 3 appearance at E3, an unreleased promotional image appears to confirm an early 2016 release for the action RPG speculated to be released for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.

Dark Souls 3 has yet to be confirmed as the next title in the series by Bandai Namco, but the image showing a hero in scorched and tattered armor, obtained by IGN, appears to be very real.

Dark Souls 3 is expected to have direction from Hidetaka Miyazaki, who also led the teams resonsible for Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, and Bloodborne. One of the main attractions to the series is how Bandai Namco continues to support the Dark Souls series since thier launch. A Bloodborne DLC was announced via Twitter three weeks ago and is expected later this year.

It's no surprise From Sorftware is looking to follow up on the success Bloodborne has enjoyed since it released earlier this year on PlayStation 4. An official Dark Souls 3 announcement is expected next week at E3.

Decision time: go on a full media-blackout or look at every. single. thing. released.

      apparently it's early 2016, that's less than a year!!!!

Annualization: confirmed. Bloodborne was a Souls game implicitly; DaS3 will be the third Souls game in as many years.

I'm a bit concerned. I think I'm starting to burn out.

Do you blame them? It's the best exclusive franchise Sony has going.

Dark Souls is not exclusive to Sony. Never has been.

My point is that annualized franchises inevitably founder on the rocks. I'd hate to see that happen to this series, but it will.

Yeah, I don't think I need one every year. The only reason I'm curious about this is Miyazaki's leading. Should be interesting to see the differences between DS2 and a Miyazaki-led sequel, considering he's said in the past he didn't want to do direct sequels.

If it brought over the movement style of Bloodborne then I would def play it.
