There have been a lot of questions surrounding just what the Halo 5: Guardians story will entail. Microsoft and 343 Industries have been teasing two sides to the game's story and now it appears that Halo 5 will indeed explore dueling narratives with one story following Master Chief and another following Spartan Locke.

Game Informer recently got the details on both story arcs. Master Chief is no longer alone in his journey, as he will be accompanied by his Blue Team of Spartan soldiers. Linda-058 (Linda), Frederic-104 (Fred), and Kelly-087 (Kelly) were all a part of the same super soldier program with Master Chief and now they will all accompany him for his next story. Each of these characters will also be playable in the game's co-op mode.

On the other side of the coin is Spartan Locke, first seen in Halo: Nightfall. His mission is to track down Master Chief and bring him in. To that end, he's recruited his own red-armored team called Fireteam Osiris. So yes, Halo 5 will officially bring its own version of Red vs. Blue into the main story.

Look for additional details about Halo 5: Guardians to pop up during next week's E3. Halo 5: Guardians will hit Xbox One on October 27.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
