Guild Wars 2 kicks off 24-hour Stronhold PvP beta on Tuesday

Those looking to get a taste of Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns' new PvP mode will be able to do so with a public beta set to kick off this Tuesday.

One of the major additions to Guild Wars 2's upcoming Heart of Thorns expansion is the Stronghold PvP. The new competitive mode introduces elements of MOBA games into a Guild Wars 2 setting, with teams of five heroes looking to take down the opposing king. There's a little more to it than that, which players can see for themselves when the next Stronghold public beta takes place this coming Tuesday.

Guild Wars 2 players will be able to participate in Stronghold matches on June 2 at 12PM PDT, with the public beta running for 24 hours. There are no embargo restrictions in place, so live streamers can broadcast or otherwise capture as much footage as they desire. It also means that those who cannot make the beta will at least be able to watch the action on the Twitch channel of their choice.

Shacknews had a chance to check out an early incarnation of Stronghold a couple of months ago. You can check out those impressions here. We've also included a Stronghold match from the first Stronghold beta for your viewing pleasure below.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
