Nvidia Shield Hub beta opens door for 1080p, 60fps game streaming

Nvidia Shield owners can now jump into the newly-released Shield Hub beta, which will allow them to stream select games at 1080p, 60fps.

Movie streaming services like Netflix and Amazon Prime have expanded to include quality of 1080p and 60fps, but there's are far greater challenges that go into offering the same level of quality for game streaming. It's a challenge that Nvidia is willfully embracing with today's new Shield Hub beta. The Shield Hub will include the latest version of the Nvidia Grid game-streaming service, which will allow games to stream at full 1080p and 60fps.

The Nvidia blog cites over 35 games that will be included as part of the Grid service. They include Ultra Street Fighter IV, Saints Row IV, most of the LEGO series, and Metro Last Light Redux. Additional games will be added in the coming months, as Nvidia opens new data centers. The latest data center recently opened in the southwestern United States, with a second set to open in Central Europe in the next few weeks.

Shield owners looking to take advantage of this feature must first go through Google Play and become a beta tester. Instructions on how to do so can be found here.
