Dreamcast JRPG Grandia II getting remastered release on PC

One of the Dreamcast's most iconic RPGs, Grandia II, is getting remasterd and will be released on the PC.

GungHo has announced it will be releasing Grandia II for Steam and Windows PC due to overwhelming feedback from a GameArts Survey.

Grandia II will improve on the original Dreamcast version as its PC version will be fully remastered and optimized for the platform with updated visuals and having the option of using a keyboard and mouse configuration or a gamepad. Steam achievements and Grandia-themed trading cards will also be included.

"With the rise of digital downloads, it is especially important that classic games continue to remain available to play in some form," said Jun Iwasaki, president of GungHo Online Entertainment America. "Grandia II was chosen for a PC re-release because it represents both a hallmark of the Grandia series and an example of how great JRPGs can be."

Grandia II was one of the crown jewels of the SEGA Dreamcast as its story, atmosphere, and combat system all came together to offer a unique JRPG experience. A number of Dreamcast games have received remasters over the years, but we can’t help but be a little more excited to experience Grandia II all over again on PC.

      This lead me to go look to see if there was a Skies of Arcadia sequel but they never made one :/

        That would be amazing if that was remastered because I finished Grandia but never got to finish Skies of Arcadia. Excellent game though.

      Stacking initiative bonuses made combat a cake walk, but this game has great music and all sorts of good things.

      FINALLY! I tried to play the original pc port and it was broken as hell and the audio didn't even work and they never patched it. Then I tried a dreamcast emulator and it was a piece of shit. This news is great

      Cool, man it be rad if they made a new one, if it sells well they might that be cool.

      Great game back in the day, I was also a big Skies of Arcadia fan I hope they make a new one some day.

      Man I loved this game! I played it all the way through on the DC otherwise I'd probably but it again. Great game!

      Awesome. I remember absolutely loving the battle system. Even though progression through the game was pretty formulaic & followed a predictable pattern, I still had a ton of fun playing it.

      It was my sophomore year at high school when this game came out and I went into the local Funcoland store to get a new game for my shiny new Dreamcast! I figured I wanted a game that looked cool but was mostly an RPG as up until that point all I had was Sonic Adventure and some fighting games. While I was looking around the display for Grandia 2 caught my eye as it was distinctly Japanese so ergo I had to at least look at it. So I look at it and it looks pretty cool but it also came with a soundtrack CD and that was pretty awesome as well! Now to sweeten the deal Funcoland also bundled with it the strategy guide that came with the poster.

      Awesome I thought, that's a lot of stuff right? So I had to get it, so indeed I did! When I got home I went straight to my room opened it up and plopped the soundtrack into my 5 CD sound system and after going through it I at least knew the music was GREAT but what the game? After plopping the game into my Dreamcast It wouldn't leave the Dreamcast until 8 months later..... This game is one of my ALLTIME favorite games and it holds a spot in my heart that it only shares with Super Mario World.

      Out of all the Grandia games 2 is by far the best one in all aspects. But that soundtrack? I still listen to it to this day and it NEVER gets old.
