Telltale Games and Marvel will collaborate on 2017 project

Telltale Games has had a lot on its plate, as of late. But it's just added another marquee license, with a Marvel project announced for 2017.

Telltale Games has been a very busy development house and they've just added another item to their growing library. The developers behind The Walking Dead and The Wolf Among Us, currently working on Tales from the Borderlands and Game of Thrones (and with a Minecraft story-based game in the works, too) will now be collaborating with Marvel for a new effort.

The deal was announced today at an event in San Francisco, as noted on the Telltale Games blog. However, there are few details coming out of this deal, as of right now. The game is expected to hit in 2017.

No word on which characters will be featured, but look for more information soon.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

I seriously hope they aren't spreading themselves too thin. This is a LOT of different plates to keep spinning:

      Walking Dead
      Wolf Among Us
      Game of Thrones
      Tales from Borderlands
      Marvel
      Minecraft?

I mean...holy shit, what other development studio takes this much on at once? Hope they know what they're doing...

Well 2017 is a long time away. Most of that list will be finished soon except Minecraft.

TWD:S2 was nowhere near as good as 1, so I have little hope.

S2 was a real disappointment. The story was dumb as fuck and I always felt being forced into making stupid decisions I didn't actually want to choose.

Unfortunately, the lead writers/directors, Sean Vanaman and Jake Rodkin, lead left before season 2.

Wonder if its going to be an actual game or another pick your own path movie that Telltale has been spewing out over the past few years?

Hahaha, exactly. Doom's ego and pomposity would make him great in the game.

Telltale sure managed to kill adventure games again, didn't they. I can't imagine anything more boring at this point than yet another reskinned Walking Dead game.

I didn't play The Walking Dead for years because of comments like that. Because I played adventures games for a long time starting with Zak Mc Kraken and Future Wars and thought it might betray it.
When I finally did, I found that it was a great game. So is The Wolf Among Us.

Loved the first one, it was fresh and interesting and the storytelling was good.

The sequel is terribly written and the gameplay is too shallow to hold it together. At this point I'm not interested in more telltale games. Would love for them to change my mind.

A friend of mine loves it, so don't let me stop you. In fact I might have a worse reaction to it because I think he overhyped it by a wide margin.

I thought the characterizations in particular were much weaker than the first game (which had such great, memorable characters).
