Though the game is still technically in beta, Heroes of the Storm has been looking to get a piece of the eSports pie and is aiming at injecting some school pride into the competitive gaming world. Blizzard has been taking sign-ups for the Heroes of the Dorm. The finals date has now been set for April 26, with the final day of competition set to broadcast across the ESPN3 broadband channel.

Over 400 schools from across the United States and Canada are set to compete for top prizes, including college tuition. The finals will be held in the Shrine Expo Hall in Los Angeles, CA, with the "Heroic Four" set to step into the arena on Sunday, April 26. The Grand Finals will begin at 6:30PM PDT and will be broadcast both online and on an unannounced ESPN network (likely ESPN2, since baseball season will be in full swing) for prime time viewing. Spectators will be admitted free of charge, though seating is limited.

For those interested in competing, it's not too late to sign up. Registration is open through tomorrow, March 26.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
