With reports of Hideo Kojima's possible departure from Konami, the publisher wants its fans to know the Metal Gear Series will continue to live on.

We reported yesterday Hideo Kojima would be leaving Konami after the release of Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. That has left Konami scrambling to assure fans the series will continue to live on, with our without Kojima-san at the helm.

Earlier this morning, Konami issued a statement regarding the publisher’s plans to continue creating Metal Gear Solid games. “The latest entry in the series, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, will be released with Hideo Kojima as originally announced on September 1, 2015,” the statement reads. “After the release of MGSV: TPP, Konami plans to also continue releasing titles in the Metal Gear series. We would like to offer our deep gratitude for your continued support of the Metal Gear series.“

The statement ends by asking those interested in working on future Metal Gear Solid games to head on over to the following Konami jobs page. Konami is looking for candidates with high-end game production skills as well as a “rich imagination.”

Post-Kojima Metal Gear Solid games would certainly be interesting to see. Considering how long Konami has worked with Kojima-san on the series, they could very well take over and continue with spin-offs and possibly even attempt a proper sequel a few years after MGS 5 is released.

Yeah, no. If Kojima is gone, so is my interest in the franchise.

I don't give a fuck about "Metal Gear" - all I care about are Kojima's ridiculous imagination and theatrics.

I hope Kojimas departure doesn't hurt the development of Silent Hills. I'm super pumped for that game.

Echoing the sentiment that MGS's wackiness and wonkiness was only tolerable because Kojima was behind the helm. He was a loveable madman. Konami has proven time after time that they don't have a clue how to redo a game once the creator left...cough Castlevania
