As reported earlier this month, Sierra and Valve will be releasing another edition of Half-Life, Platinium - according Sierra a "collector's item". Now officially announced, it will contain

the original Half-Life: Team Fortress Classic, Half-Life: Opposing Force(R), the number one online action game--Half-Life: Counter-Strike*, and a collection of top MODs (game modifications) created by members of the Half-Life community.

No specific release date is mentioned except for a "holiday 2000" one.

Valve has every right to "milk it" with this game.But I see it more as a convienient way of getting new computer owners a lot of cool stuff with one purchase.And if you want the mods without downloading them,look on the pcgamer magazine cds,they have levels and mods for several games.

It looks as though the "world's first 3D accelerator to break the Gigapixel barrier", which 3dfx hyped the V5 6000 as at ComDex last fall, won't be the world's first gigapixel accelerator after all, as the Ultra will apparently be on shelves first. Just more bad news for 3dfx.

Jesus, are they EVER gonna release a new game? Why the hell do they need to keep packaging the same shit over and over and over, and look, "Here's some stuff we didn't make but got from the internet and threw in to make it look like you're getting something for your money." So what if they milk the cash cow? It benefits smart buyers! :)

You know, when this is released, the "old" copies of Half-life will be selling at $10 at your local computer superstore (so they can get rid of them)! Just like I got my copy for CDN$20 when the Game of the Year Edition was released! :)

Heck, you might even buy a few copies to give to your friends so they get hooked on Counter-strike as well ;)
