Uncharted 4: A Thief's End delayed to 2016

Naughty Dog has announced it will be delaying Uncharted 4: A Thief's End to spring 2016 due to the game being "more ambitious" than the team originally envisioned.

Naughty Dog has announced Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End will be coming to the PlayStation 4 in Spring 2016.

The game was originally expected to be released in 2015, but creative director Neil Druckmann revealed Uncharted 4 has been delayed. “Since we showed you our first gameplay reveal of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, more of the game and story have come together, and it’s become clear to us that this game is much more ambitious than we originally envisioned,” he wrote in a PlayStation Blog post.

Druckmann continues, “this game deserves every bit of the attention to detail, precise pacing, and nuanced storytelling Naughty Dog is known for. So we’ve made the difficult choice of pushing the game’s release date.”

After the amount of holiday games that released in 2014 that weren’t quite ready for prime time, such as Assassin’s Creed Unity and Halo: The Master Chief Collection, I’m fine with Naughty Dog’s decision to delay Uncharted 4. The last thing we need is for a console exclusive like that to go belly up once it’s released.

I expected as much. I'm not a huge Dark Souls fan so this is the only game I was looking forward to on my PS4. More dust be collectin.

Really? There are a ton of great games already available on the PS4 and coming soon. What kind of games do you enjoy? Maybe I can recommend something.

I play just about anything. IF it's cross platform more than likely I played on the Xbox (Most of my RL friends and family are there) or the PC. I really enjoyed iNfamous and that's about it. Killzone was okay ut predictable and nothing new. I'm waiting for the big name Sony titles and some of them have fell a bit flat in comparison to the Xbox. I haven't played a JRPG since the Gamecube so I was going to pick up Disgaea.

Not happy. This is THE big PS4 game. Guess I'll buy an XBOne and play Tomb Raider... :(

You seem to be confused. THE big PS4 game you're looking for is called BLOODBORNE.

3rd person action RPGs have been quite mainstream for console-oriented gamers from at least the early days of the PS2. Far from niche. Obviously, less so for the PC-centric, but suffice it to say, Bloodborne is a major entry in the history of the genre. I'm strongly doubting it's going to let anyone down who gives it a try.

it's basically a dark souls game so it's in a sub genre. the niche is masochists who like 3rd person action RPGs and it's not for everyone that is into the genre as a whole.

i think this speaks to the complexities of current gen games and expectations from gamers. a system launches at the end of 2013 and there's barely 2-3 great games over a year later.

After reading this news I realized that by the time Uncharted comes out, there will be a total of 2 exclusive games I'm aware of that I want for the 2.5 year old PS4. Uncharted and Bloodborne. Obviously there are more actual games for that, but as a PC + Wii U owner they're making it very difficult to justify owning either of the other two consoles.

Yup. Its exactly why I will stay a pc + wii u owner. I have absolutely 0 desire to buy either ps4 or xb1.

No. This exact same thing happens with every console generation change. The hardware comes flying out of the gate with trumpets blasting. Then 2 - 3 years later, reality sets in and everything you were being promised gets delayed.

I bought the PS2, PS3 and PS4 each 1 year after their release dates. The problem seems worse to me this time around, unless you are really into indie games.

I think it's getting worse each generation which is probably due to the ever increasing complexities of game development as vassili mentioned. I remember the PS2 was very dry for the first year, though we had SSX, DOA2, and Timesplitters to hold us over for the most part. Then the 360's first year was about the same, but its first big sellers didn't arguably start showing up until after 2 years (Gears of War etc). Now this generation is seeing even less in that span of time.

I'll forever appreciate having Mario 64, Waverace, and Shadows of the Empire within the first 3 months of the N64's release.

I can honestly say that this news effects me in absolutely no way, considering that I'm not much of an Uncharted fan.

I'm sure that I'll be playing other games in it's place, and I still have a backlog of games on Steam that I've yet to even install.

Yeah, it's been pretty disappointing... unless you own a Wii U. Seriously; our PS4 gets use every few months when a game I want to play comes out, and most of those have been re-releases: Resident Evil HD, The Last of Us HD. I'll get a lot of mileage out of Bloodborne, but that's the only exclusive I care about.

I am going to get a PS4 eventually, but I don't think the XB1 has been as bad in that regard so far it has had some decent releases that actually make it worth owning one.

I'm not sure if the PS4 has had a single console exclusive to make it worth buying yet, other than The Last of Us which is a remake.

I'm not trying to make that sound like XB1 is better post though because hopefully if Bloodborne is decent and when UC4 comes out I will be getting a PS4 for sure.

InFamous Second Son is a really good game.I actually bought my PS4 the day it came out. After playing Titanfall on PC,I had absolutely no interest in it period.

I actually won an XBox One at my companies holiday party last November. It was the Assassin's Creed bundle.I traded it with another guy for the 40" Vizio TV that he won.

It's been crazy shitty so far, I can count the games worth buying on one hand, especially ones that aren't on PC. What's going on, I thought these new consoles were way easier to code for?

I think sony surprised everyone by launching so early. Also most of the major publishers have moved from middle-wear like Unreal Tech to their own proprietary stuff this generation, so that's probably caused problems.

I think tripple A gaming is in a really unhealthy spot right now : /
