With more fighting game franchises making their way to the new generation of consoles, BlazBlue certainly doesn't want to be left behind. That's why Arc System Works is bringing BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 with BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma EXTEND this summer.

Fans of the current Chrono Phantasma will be happy to see a revamped Guard system, which will help players determine when to attack or block with the Barrier Gauge meter. If this sounds complex, the beginner-friendly Stylish Mode will add Auto Guard, Combo Attacks, Special Abilities, and Distortion Drive. EXTEND will include 28 characters, with Celica and Lambda joining the cast, as well as new story scenarios and digest versions of the Calamity Trigger and Continuum Shift stories.

EXTEND will also feature Remix Heart, a story mode that centers around Mai Natsume and Kajun Faycott and their high school exploits. Because... sure, why not?

BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma EXTEND is set to release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this summer. Those that aren't able to make the jump to next-gen just yet shouldn't feel discouraged, because the game will also hit PlayStation 3 and Vita.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
