Dragon Quest Heroes heading to PS4 in 2015

Yet another Warriors-style game is in the works. This time, it'll feature the world of Dragon Quest.

Square Enix has announced Dragon Quest Heroes will be making its way to western markets later this year exclusively on the PlayStation 4.

Dragon Quest Heroes features gameplay mechanics similar to Tecmo Koei’s Dynasty Warriors, or Hyrule Warriors for those who picked that title up when it released on the Wii U. The protagonists in the game need to battle through swarms of enemies, mini-bosses and extremely large monsters.

The game will feature characters and monsters designed by legendary artist Akira Toriyama, which if you’ve played recent Dragon Quest or Dragonball Z games, you’ll be very familiar with his work.

Square Enix plans on delivering more details about the game in the coming months. After playing through Hyrule Warriors, I’m definitely excited to see what Omega Force can do for the Dragon Quest series.

Saw some Japanese guy streaming this on PS4 yesterday. Looks pretty fun, but it seems like it would benefit from online coop. I heard it doesn't have that, so I don't know if I'll be interested.

I'm so fucking excited. I was pretty damn close to ordering it from an import site last night. Glad I didn't.

Here's hoping that this sells well and they stop ignoring Dragon Quest in the West.

After playing hours of Hyrule Warriors, I can't wait to see how Dragon Quest Heroes plays.

It's apparently not nearly as much like the Musou games are Hyrule Warriors was. I'm seeing a lot of people saying it's more like an ARPG (with a 4 player party, at that), but that it's clearly using the Musou-type gameplay at its core along with traditional DQ stuff like leveling, learning new skills, and the alchemy pot for making items.
