With the Game Developers Conference rapidly approaching, it'll soon mark a full year since Obsidian Entertainment announced its collaboration with My.com for its foray into the tank-busting genre. Today, the free-to-play Armored Warfare is offering a glimpse at its five classes and how they'll all contribute to the game in different ways.

Senior producer Joshua Morris offers up an overview on the various classes that'll inhabit Armored Warfare. This include the main battle tanks, light tanks, armored fighting vehicles, tank destroyers, and self-propelled guns. Some of these roles go beyond the typical brute strength associated with tanks, with some of the tank classes specializing in scouting and stealth. In the case of self-propelled artillery, it's a role that actually changes the game entirely, offering a completely different perspective.

Armored Warfare is gearing up for release later this year. Closed beta sign-ups are available on the game's website.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
