Xbox One February update rolls out with controller improvements

The Xbox One February update is rolling out tonight and it will include several quality-of-life improvements, particular in regards to the Xbox One controller.

The Xbox One has received its first system update of 2015. Microsoft started rolling the update out late Thursday evening. The update focuses mainly on controller improvements, as well as some quality of life improvements.

Xbox Wire has all the details. The February update features:

  • Controller improvements - Controller syncing will now take about two seconds, improved from its previous 4-5 second connection window. Overall stability has also been improved.
  • Game Hubs - These are dedicated game pages, which will show you which of your friends are playing these games, while also including leadership functionality. Folks can also check out clips and broadcasts for the selected game.
  • Party Chat improvements - Connection and performance has been improved for party chat, particularly for those with Strict or Moderate NAT settings. New icons have also been added for an easier-to-understand interface.
  • Tile transparency - Tiles will now appear more transparent to make the dashboard friendlier to custom backgrounds.
  • Xbox TV trending - Scanning the OneGuide TV listings will have a "Trending on Xbox" and "Trending on Twitter" display to help keep viewers aware of the shows of the moment.

As a reminder, the controller update must be downloaded manually via the Settings page. Simply go into Settings and select Devices & Accessories to update your controller.
