"Deus Ex is not a classic.....Also, let's not be reactionary here. I'm not saying Deus Ex is a "bad" game. Is that clear? Are you with me now? I'm not saying Deus Ex is a BAD game. In fact, I'd argue it's a pretty good game, and it might even be worth your money.....Deus Ex uses a graphics engine that makes the retro (and much better) System Shock II's Dark engine look optimized. Deus uses the Unreal engine, which means Deus is pretty, but it also means that, even with the patch, not even a GeForce 2 can get better than 20fps. It's a graphics engine that is suited for straight-up action: bodies disappear, a two-handed weapon can be carried while climbing a ladder, etc. It's not a graphics engine that renders large, expansive areas with real-world detail, multiple entry and exit points, and hordes of bad guys well."
