With Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn set to launch its Heavensward expansion later this year, Square Enix is looking to wrap up the base game's main story. The end game is set to begin today with the arrival of patch 2.5, titled "Before the Fall, Part One."

In addition to kicking off the main storyline's final chapter, the new patch will feature three brand new high-level dungeons: The Keeper of the Lake, The Wanderer's Palace (Hard), and Amdapor Keep (Hard). The massive 24-player Crystal Tower series of raids will also come to an end with one final run called "The World of Darkness."

Additional information for the new 2.5 patch, including new Gilgamesh missions and a Frontline PvP revamp can be found in the latest patch notes. You can also check out the video below. The newest patch should hit PC, PS4, and PS3 later today.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
