Memory 6: A Crown of Thorns

The first task of this mission is simple. Pick up the Lantern. See, that wasn’t so hard was it?

Now that we’re through with that it’s time to reach the temple and move into the final phase of the Dead Kings storyline. This part is a bit of a maze, so you’ll want to first visit the room adjacent to where you began to fill up your lantern with oil. Once you’re sure your lantern is full start climbing, stopping to activate any plates you come across, until you reach your objective.

The area before you is swarming with enemies, so you’ll want to be careful as you make your way forward towards your objective. You have an optional objective to complete two double assassinations, but each opportunity you’re given also comes with an equal opportunity to get caught. No matter how you play your cards, once you reach the other end of the room you’ll trigger a cutscene and set off the final battle of the DLC, time to take on Rose.

First things first, toss either a poison bomb or a round from your Guillotine Gun into the fray of guards that Rose has with him. They’ll actually take a few hits from the Guillotine Gun, but that’s no matter. Once they’re down the odds are more or less even, and it’s time to take on the big guy.

There isn’t really a great way to fight Rose. What I mean is, there isn’t a wrong way, or a right way. Once his guards are down it’s pretty straightforward. Get off some hits, dodge, throw some smoke bombs, retreat to heal, and then jump right back in. Once he’s down you’ll move on to the final portion of the mission.

Just when you thought the puzzle solving was over…

Before you are four braziers which you’ll need to light in the correct order to unlock the relic so you can retrieve it. To make it easier to follow we’ll number them from left to right, 1-4. To complete the puzzle simply light braziers two, four, three, and then one in that order.

Once you’ve complete the puzzle you’ll need to climb to the top of the structure to retrieve the Relic. I started on the ride side and then had to cross to the left once I was around halfway up. Once you reach the top interact with the Relic to receive your final objective for the memory, Escape the Temple.

There are tons of raiders between you and the outside world, but what does all that matter when you’re holding onto a magical Relic which allows you to blind and kill your enemies with… bats?

Simply move through the temple, charging and setting off the Relic, until you reach the marker and finish up the DLC with a nice cutscene.
