Destiny players getting 'Legendary Gift' soon [UPDATE]

Looks like Destiny players are in for another “legendary surprise” later this week.

Destiny hasn't always been the most forgiving game with its randomized loot system, but Bungie is looking to give players a little incentive to check their inboxes. Last night, Bungie took to Twitter to announce an upcoming gift:

The giving of gifts hasn't been terribly odd for the developers. Things like emblems and even the free Sparrow that was given to Season Pass owners are examples of ways the developers have given extras to the devoted community. It's hard to say ust what this surprise will entail, be it purely cosmetic or a nice piece of functional gear. Bungie did update with another tweet, suggesting it's functional gear and won't need to be decrypted.

UPDATE: Looks like the gifts are heading out today, according to an update on the official Bungie Twitter. Check your Postmaster to see what you've received.

Hopefully it will take 10 hours to fully upgrade and become obsolete in the next DLC.

Looks like it's going to be purely cosmetic and not even worthy of keeping for many people according to the Bungie Twitter.

Oh yay. I do find it amusing that I have played the game far more than I care to admit and never came across a single ghost customization. I think there's just one that was a preorder bonus.

That's all I've found as well. (I preordered... what a sucker), and like you have spent far more hours than I'd care to share playing. But the Red Ghost isn't that great. Looks better than the White, sure, but I'd love for more choices. Actually personalize it all. I mean come on, all the female guardians and male guardians have the same voice actors... can't we get some kind of customization in here?

I never finished leveling up a warlock and Titan for the trophy I might do that. Then trade game in.

I wouldn't say the sparrow was "free". You had to pay the $35 first.

Well, technically it was "free" to Season Pass holders. You don't have to have it for the game to work (it makes a bit of a difference with the speed and all), but it could easily have never been introduced to players as a gift.
