Iron Galaxy has a holiday gift for Killer Instinct fans. The original arcade classic that started it all is about to get a very special addition: online play.

KI Team Lead Kraig Kujawa made the announcement on the game's forums. The folks at Code Mystics have completed work on an online foundation for the original Killer Instinct and servers are set to go live tonight at 5PM PST.

Kujawa also offered a glimpse into some of the features and bug fixes that will be implemented in the game's next update. One of the big ones is a new option to disable the right analog stick in the Options menu. Bug fixes will mainly address issues surrounding the recently-added Riptor.

Killer Instinct Classic is available to all owners of the KI Season One Ultra Edition.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
