Destiny for PS4 and Xbox One is 50% off on Amazon today

Those looking to pick up Destiny at its lowest price point possible this year can proceed to buy the game for $29.99 at Amazon, but act fast as it's only good for the day.

Today’s Amazon Gold Box Deal of the Day has placed Bungie’s Destiny in the virtual bargain bin as the game is on sale for $29.99.

The drop in price is good for both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the sci-fi-themed first-person shooter, and it’s the best price I’ve seen yet this holiday season as the game only dipped down to $45 during Black Friday. Those looking for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of Destiny won’t be met with such a large price drop, although they’re discounted to $39.99 each.

I really can’t imagine the price of the current-gen version of Destiny getting any lower than $29.99 prior to the start of the new year. So if you’ve been waiting for the lowest price point possible to either pick the game up for yourself or as a potential gift, today would be the day to pull the trigger.

This must be the most polarizing game I've seen in a long time. So many people gripe about it and feel cheated and yet there's a lot of us who have put in ridiculous amounts of time into it already.

Can you think of other really polarized games like this?

Maybe dark souls. There have been more voices in favor of that game, but lots of people can't stand the difficulty.

Lots of people can't stand the Destiny grind, but I can't think of a game that offers the same gaming satisfaction.

grinding is a terrible form of satisfaction but you can't argue with the popularity of slot machines

The satisfaction I get is more from defeating challenges in the raid, but the grind is necessary to get there.

grinds are never 'necessary' except to trick people into perceiving value and progression

There are two kinds of people: those who like Dark Souls, and those who are terrible, awful, malformed abominations.

I bought digital. Wish I could sell it, fuck, fuck, fuck. I haven't felt this burned since Mercenaries 2.

Mercenaries 2 start off well but then something in that game clicked and I got super bored of it. Strange because Just Cause 2 started off boring for me but then the click did the opposite.

I was enjoying Destiny initially the same way but then that whole atmosphere of being a fantasy game set in a Sci-fi world with these generic ass sounding names got old fast. I guess also there wasn't much of a sense of urgency since I could always go back to old levels whenever.

I paid this price at a frys sale back in october and I still feel I didn't get my money's worth. The game just bored me, no desire to load it up and level up. I only got to level 10.

Would it *REALLY* suck to start at Level 1 right now? Just asking and curious? Anyone still playing is mostly L30 ?

I started 2 weeks ago and it's fine. Still making my way (slowly) through the story missions and doing a bunch of side stuff. There's always tons of people around, and a bunch of shackers on usually.

No, quite the contrary I think the more they put into and refine the game, the better the proposition it is to pick it up and play fresh.

Its a fucking great game, it isn't perfect though...we all have stated why...but if it were to address the issues and be the kind of game it aspires to be (and sometimes is...in raids, etc) it would be one of my top ten games of all time...I like it that much even if I hate it too. :)

I kind of somewhat enjoyed the alpha but really really glad I skipped this. I thought the story in Halo was not good (but it had one!) and to see this game has significantly less focus on story. :/ It's just not for me. I do hope they get their 10 year life out of the franchise as they wanted though. Should appease fans of bungie I guess.

I wish I could play the RAIDS. I don't really have the time to find a good playing time schedule for 6 people so a playlist would be nice for my kind..I mean, if it wasn't for the raids, why would people keep playing? I need to still run VoG

if I have no interest in the raiding/loot, and I only care about PvP, should I pick this up?

        December 16, 2014 2:57 PM

Probably not? There's a decent pvp component, but it's not really the focus. Not even sure how many maps there are.

I think the PvP is really well done...good loot and perk drops, tons of varied guns you want to try in the crucible (PvP)...there are limited game options - pretty much just control/hold points and variations of DM. No CTF or stripped down DM (no radars, gun perks, raw) yet
