Final Fantasy 14 'Eternal Bond' update gets hitched today

In-game wedding ceremonies are now a part of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, because... sure, why not?

It isn't unheard of for MMORPG characters to bond over their adventures and get in-game hitched. So why should Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn be any different? Today's 2.45 update, called Eternal Bond, will now give two characters the opportunity to pledge their lives to one another in the Ceremony of Eternal Bonding.

There are three levels of Ceremony, so those looking to take part in a totally simple affair can do so. Of course, there are also a slew of extras for your virtual bridezilla, including hair styles and equipment. There's a Standard Plan, a Gold Plan for $20, and a Platinum Plan for $40 and the option is definitely there to go simple... assuming you want to hear about it from your partner-to-be for the rest of your life.

And of course, planning a virtual Ceremony is about as involved as planning an actual wedding, so you'll have to fill out all the proper forms on the Final Fantasy XIV website.

Admittedly, the virtual wedding ceremony actually looks kind of cute. Check out an example in the video below.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
