Sega and The Creative Assembly are offering a newer way to take over the world with a second Total War game in development. This one is more of a spin-off, going under the title Total War Battles: Kingdom. This follow-up to Total War Battles: Shogun will be free-to-play and be available for PC, but it'll also be the first of the series to hit iOS and Android tablets.

Kingdom will take place during the Dark Ages at the turn of the 10th century. Players are tasked with building their land, as well as taking part in large-scale battles with other players in a large multiplayer setting. While other players will act as some of your best allies, there's also plenty of opportunity to stab them in the back and take the spoils of war for yourself.

For a taste of what's to come, check out the reveal trailer below. Players can sign up for the open beta for Total War Battles: Kingdom on the game's official website.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
