Update: A new video (below) has surfaced on Nintendo's YouTube channel, describing this new line of Amiibos. A February release window was also given.

Nintendo has revealed the next batch of Amiibo figures, which is set to be released soon. Just as previous figures, the figures are of various characters from the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. That includes the figure line's first batch of third-party characters, in the form of Mega Man and Sonic the Hedgehog.

The new batch of Amiibos was revealed on Nintendo's Twitter account. The latest bunch of Amiibos consist of the aforementioned Mega Man and Sonic, as well as Bowser, Rosalina and Luma, Lucario, Toon Link, Sheik, Ike, Metaknight, King Dedede, and Shulk.

A batch of other Nintendo games will promise Amiibo support, including Hyrule Warriors, Mario Kart 8, and upcoming games like Kirby and the Rainbow Curse and Yoshi's Wooly World. The inclusion of Shulk would also seemingly point to Amiibo support in the eventual Xenoblade Chronicles X, so stay tuned.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
