343 Industries has announced the “Halo Championship Series” (HCS) which is the official eSports league that will celebrate the Halo series’ competitive gaming legacy while also building an entirely new platform.

The first season of the HCS will begin shortly after the launch of Halo: The Master Chief Collection and is expected to begin with its preseason in November up to March 2015. Teams of four will be able to compete in a series of online and in-person LAN events, all of which will be officially sanctioned tournaments that will award participants HCS points for top teams. At the end of a season, the teams with the highest HCS points will then be invited to compete in the HCS season finals. Details on the season finals will be announced shortly.

Participants and fans can head on over to Halo Waypoint where they can see an overview of league information in order to follow along each team’s progress as well as view the official rules handbook, register their own teams, view global Halo rankings and more.

343 Industries will be sharing more details regarding HCS starting on November 8 at 2PM PT. Those interested in learning more, especially if you think you’re good enough to earn the championship’s $50,000 purse, then tune into Twitch.tv/Halo to get more information.
