Rockstar Games has confirmed they’re re-releasing a high-definition version of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas on the Xbox 360 platform on October 26.

The announcement follows a leak of the title’s list of achievements as well as the sudden disappearance of the Xbox Originals version of the game from the Xbox Games Store on Xbox 360. The game will now be sold as a Games on Demand title for Xbox 360 and will retail for $14.99.

The port of San Andreas will run in 720p and will include an enhanced draw distance. It will also include a full set of achievements players can earn through various methods while playing the game.

If you happen to have owned the Xbox Originals version of GTA: San Andreas, your save files won’t be compatible with the newer Games on Demand version. Although, owners of the Xbox Originals version will still be able to access the title through their Xbox Live download history.

Cool! Fun! I never played this one. Or much of Vice City really, either.

I hate that so much crap is still being released for last gen consoles. I know they have the bigger install base, but it still sucks!

Yep - that's the sad truth of moving onto a new generation of systems. As much as you want to let go of last-gen, companies will continue releasing titles for a few more years until current-gen consoles get a larger install base.

Would be cool to get this on PS4/XBONE. I actually never played San Andreas but everyone seems to feel like it was the pinnacle of GTA.

I hope they at least upgraded the textures too because just running at 720p probably wont cut it.
