Xbox One HBO Go app spotted in the wild

The official HBO Go app has been spotted running on the Xbox One. The question is: when will we finally get it?!

Microsoft has been doing some serious work in securing dedicated applications for online streaming video providers, and according to a recently leaked image, the official HBO Go app isn’t too far from being released.

The images were published on the Xbox One subreddit late last week, which have since been taken down from the original OneDrive source. The image is said to be a part of the beta release of the HBO Go app for the Xbox One, which was one of many apps Microsoft promised would be released by the end of the year.

Having images of the screenshot taken down certainly speaks volumes of its legitimacy, so let’s just hope the app is made available in time to take advantage of HBO’s recent announcement of allowing subscriptions for its HBO Go service without having to be a subscriber to its premium cable channel.

I wish the Plex thing would go live for nonPass users. The preview media player will play things from the Plex server but the presentation is lacking greatly. Also it just starts playing the next file it has queued regardless of what it is.

For all the ways Sony is trouncing MS this go around, the sheer speed of quality of life and app additions on the One compared to the PS4 is massive. The One is a radically more usable machine now than compared to launch and the PS4 is pretty much showing it's weaknesses in regards to UI and apps as time goes on. It still is where I play my games mostly and that's the biggest thing, but it's pretty weak once you get a fat library of games going.

I have a feeling it'll take Sony longer to get HBO Go on the PlayStation 4. Don't forget how long it took them to get it on the PS3.
