Mouse Sensations

Logitech has just announced another new mouse technology. This new mouse provides physical feed back (vibrations) when your mouse cursor goes over particular images. Such as going over a picture of a tennis racket, you'll feel the strings etc.

... optical wheel mice with the ability to ``feel'' events within all Windows applications and on the Web. Now anyone who uses a mouse can experience tactile sensations via the mouse as the cursor travels over icons and menus, command bars, folders, tool bars, web buttons and hyperlinks. What's more, because the iFeel mice are optical, they offer a high degree of precision while requiring no cleaning.
It took about 0.005 seconds to realize the umm... erotic possibilities. You can also read about this on CNN. Thanks Conan Ford.

  • and as another side note, i tried this "new" technology over a year and a half ago at Siggraph, its pretty cool the first time you try it, but i can imagine it gets really annoying after a while. When you move over a bounch of window3z, you feel the edges...if i didnt move fast enough, i felt trapped :(
Personally, i like my intellimouse just the way it is. Somethings just dont need to get much better: they've been making cotton clothing the same way for as long as i can remember and i think its pretty comfortable. Sorry, ill get back to you ppl when i can think of a more relevant metaphor.
