Shacknews recently had a chance to check out Halo: The Master Chief Collection, eyeballing the restored Halo 2 Anniversary Edition, reacquainting ourselves with the multiplayer, and also checking out some of the restoration treatment being given to Halo 3 and 4. To learn more about what's coming to the collection, we spoke to 343 Industries executive producer Dan Ayoub.

"A challenge we ran into really early is 'How do we curate this?'" Ayoub told Shacknews. "It really became a UI challenge for us. How do we give all of this information to the player in a way that they can easily get through? Because it's so much content, it'd be easy for stuff to get buried and for it to be hard to get along. So we're actually pretty happy with what we've got. It's a great, simple interface to get through."

Ayoub goes on to discuss the game's playlists, which will unite certain levels across the four Halo games by theme. The Warthog levels are named as an example, though Ayoub adds that 343 will be adding more playlists in future updates.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
