Forza Horizon 2 is looking to take the long-running Forza series back into the open world. If our preview is any indication, they seem to be doing a pretty good job of that, so far. To learn more about the upcoming open world racer, Shacknews had the opportunity to speak to Playground Games Creative Director Ralph Fulton.

"We've knocked away all the barriers and all the walls to allow you to explore with complete freedom," Fulton told Shacknews. "We're bringing Drivatars into Forza Horizon 2. You might remember them from Forza Motorsport 5, a really revolutionary technology which learns how you drive. Well, now we've transplanted that into the open world, so Drivatars not only learn how you drive, they learn where you drive, as well. And they will fill your world, so you'll be playing with your friends, even when they aren't online."

Fulton also describes many of Horizon's social aspects, including the social clubs, car meets, and the removal of online lobbies. To learn more about Forza Horizon 2, the game's dynamic weather, and the vast selection of vehicles, check out our video interview below.

Forza Horizon 2 is set to release on September 30 on Xbox One and Xbox 360. The game's demo released earlier today.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

What? Forza 5 is gimped only because it was a launch release. Just like every other system launch Forza (3).

Horizon is a fine game, but it's not what Forza is meant to be.
