Mortal Kombat X beheading the competition in April 2015

Mortal Kombat X has an official release date and one of its most iconic characters makes their triumphant return as a playable character.

We first heard of the latest Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat X, back in June. Since then, we’ve been hearing quite a bit of news regarding NetherRealm Studios’ upcoming fighting that included learning some fan favorites, such as Raiden and Kano, would be joing Mortal Kombat X. Today, Warner Bros. has confirmed we’ll be fighting any and all comers on April 14, 2015.

In addition to the launch date announcement, WB revealed yet another playable character to join the mix: Goro. Yes - the four-armed monstrosity will be a playable character in Mortal Kombat X, so long as you pre-order a copy of the game from a retailer in North America. Those in the UK will be able to access Goro by pre-ordering from an “exclusive UK retailer.”

Mortal Kombat X will be available on PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

I was pretty bummed to see that Goro is a preorder character only. I'm not a big fan of locking characters up behind preorders or DLC.

I admit as well that is not a cool move but I guess it gets them pre orders. Then again you would think such a game and how it looks atm they don't need to pull a guerrilla move like that and make it sound like that is the only way to get pre orders.

Mind you a lot of companies do this tactic of exclusive content I can see why they do it.

You could look at it as a thank you for pre ordering I guess... [?]

Hmm not sure why they choose to do that I don't agree with that sort of tactic personally, it be a diff story if you can get him as a DLC but my understanding it is pre order exclusive.

IIRC all the preorder stuff in MK9 eventually became available as DLC

Day 1 for me. I grew up in arcades playing MK1 to now and they are getting cooler and cooler. 9 was so awesome if they are on the same track X will be amazing.

Tho I will say they kinda lost me during the Xbox era of deception deadly alliance but they've definitely restored my faith.

100% this ^^^ same with me, it is one of the most influential games that I grew up with and made the most impact for me.

I am with you and feel the same way with the first batch of 3D MK games there had such horrible backgrounds and special moves it just looked bad I could not get into them, some cool blood and damage tech and the weapons where cool but that was about it.

MK1 - UMK3 where amazing then nothing till MK9 the rest where pretty much shit MK Trilogy sort of does no count well it was UMK3 with some extras actually it was good never mind.

For me 3D MK did not start till MK9 which owned MKX looks incredible I can not wait.
