Update: Nintendo has issued a press release confirming pricing details. Each DLC pack will be available for $7.99 each or as a full package for $11.99. They also clarified that the first DLC pack featuring The Legend of Zelda will be released in November, while the second pack featuring Animal Crossing would be released in May 2015.
Original story: Nintendo is adding a whole slew of new content to Mario Kart 8 and it's digging into a number of its sister franchises to do so. So get ready to see characters from The Legend of Zelda and Animal Crossing jump on some karts for the very first time, as they drive onto some all-new courses.
The first DLC pack, as detailed by Nintendo UK, will include eight new courses, four new vehicles (including the Blue Falcon from F-Zero), and three new characters: Tanooki Mario, Cat Peach, and Link.
The second pack will offer a separate helping of eight courses and four vehicles, along with the Villager and Isabelle from Animal Crossing and Dry Bowser.
Purchasing both packs will also give players eight separate Yoshi and Shy Guy colors. Each pack will run for roughly 7 pounds (or roughly $12) and will release in November.
