Back when Guacamelee: Super Turbo Championship Edition was first announced, developer Drinkbox Studios told Shacknews in an interview that a PC update was very much on the table. Today, the studio officially announced that the beefed-up version of Guacamelee would make its way to Steam later this week.

The announcement was posted on Twitter, linking to a Steam listing that points to an August 21 release date. Those that own the current Guacamelee Gold Edition will get 66% off the current base price of $14.99, bringing the purchase price down to $4.99. PC owners will also get Steam Workshop support, which includes a new costume shop to deck out Juan in the latest luchador gear.

Those that can't wait for the PC release can currently pick up Guacamelee on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Wii U, and Xbox 360.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
