I'm sorry to go back so far, but I must comment on FreshView's view of abortion. He said:

Wait. Right there. I respect your opinion on the issue, but don't you think that if the woman didn't want it (the baby), then she shouldn't have gotten pregnant in the first place?

By the way, I see where you are coming from during the rest of the comment, but that one line struck me as "Duh!". If she doesn't want the child, too fucking bad. There is a time to choose whether or not she wants the child, and if it comes down to "I think I'll remove it from my body now", the that time has already passed her by. Thank you for allowing me to analyze your message.

Abortion is a no-win discussion. Period.

However:

Abortion becomes "a choice" once you convince yourself that it's not a baby that is living inside of his or her mother. In order to do that, you may have to refer to the child as... "a rabbit"... "a tissue"... whatever you want to call him/her. But, how can one convince themselves of that...? It's certainly not a tomato in there... it's a child. Also, at some point in the future, the child may not even need a mother to be delivered after conception due to innovations in science. Personally, I'm against the killing of babies... no matter if they are one day before birth, while they are being delivered (partial birth), or one day after birth... in my opinion, it's still murder. Lastly, whenever a society is largely based on being selfish, not accountable for their actions, greedy, hopeless, or pleasure centric; abortion becomes some sort of demented form of contraception under the label of "choice".

Stupid thought: Gore is the Vice President and Bush is the Governor of Texas.

Why aren't they doing their jobs? They're campaigning telling us they do good work, but they've not been minding their current jobs for months!

I read a study once that linked the Roe v. Wade decision (early 80's) to the decline in violent crime starting in the mid nineties. This wasn't speculation, these people were serious and had evidence.

as long as abortion is spelled differently than murder, then the government really ought not to step in excessively. There are a lot of things that are "legal" but i would never consider doing them myself. Burning the american flag is one. I just don't think it should be outlawed because hell, it is rapidly ceasing to be America, anyway. It once was a free country.

In 2005, abortion is still legal, but a strange law is passed that requires the "humane disposal" of the baby via lethal injection. Only then may the baby be blended back into baby-batter and slurped out. It was reasoned that, "just in case the babyblob can feel pain, we shouldn't torture it."

It comes down to whether you believe the potential for a child is the same as a child... and when you believe a fetus becomes a human.

There is a point where it certainly doesn't look very human like..

The real question is, at what point does the baby become an independant entity from the mother. If it's ever the same entity, then, at that point, it's fine to abort the baby because it's the mother's choice.

Right now, I'm basically pro-life, pro-choice.

I think abortion is wrong, but I also think that having the child live could be just as wrong.. a friend of mine was "pro-death", he thought more babies should have been aborted because of the horrible lives they would lead.... I think that's true, in some very rare cases.

I don't really know when a fetus is a human. If it's at conception, then.. theoretically, murder laws should cover it. But it's not CERTAIN when a fetus is a human... does that mean abortion should be illegal? Infanticide?

I'm not really sure. I don't have a solid answer for this one, but, as long as the child is within the mother, I do feel it's HER choice. It's her body, and for about 9 months, she basically has a parasite growing within her... If she doesn't want it... then... she shouldn't be forced to keep it.

In times of incest, especially, I'm actually pro-abortion in cases of incest... I think there's enough freaks walking around without an inbred retard added among them.

What I do hate is how women think men shouldn't be allowed to have an opinion on this.

That's so ridiculous, if anything, men will be more rational, because we have less emotion tied up in it.

Ive seen sonograms of our kids when they were conception +12 weeks. Damn it's amazing. Full term is 40 weeks. They look like little kids in there at 12 weeks. It's pretty cool, and pretty sad.

The money spent on your monitor, is the best money spent on your system. Not only does having a large monitor make a HUGE difference (14 to 17? You'll never believe how you got by on the 14 after a week on the 17), but monitors don't depreciate in value NEARLY as fast as everything else in your computer. A good 17" monitor 4 years ago is still a good 17" monitor today, and 2 years from now. I replace almost everything in my system once a year to 18 months, but I've had the same monitor for 3 years now, and will have it for the next couple of years. Your monitor should be the most valuable component in your system.. buying a video card that costs more than your monitor is ludicrous. ;)
