Microsoft wasn't about to let its Gamescom 2014 media briefing end without mention of its prized Halo series. With that said, Microsoft announced the official Halo Channel.

The Halo Channel features an Xbox One-style dashboard, offering access to numerous Halo in-game features, bios on all the series' characters, behind-the-scenes goodness, and portals to original content like the upcoming Halo: Nightfall original series. Users will also jump into the Halo Channel to get access the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta as soon as it's ready.

343 also had some cool tidbits for Halo: The Master Chief Collection, noting that a Halo 2-style ranking system will be in place for multiplayer, with the classic Sanctuary map on full display during the presentation. Halo: The Master Chief Collection will arrive in November.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
