Elgato is usually known for creating easy-to-use video streaming tools that enable gamers to show off their experiences without the need for super-elaborate PC hook-ups. And next week, it'll make the game even easier.

The team has just announced its new Game Capture HD60 device, which will release on August 18th worldwide. With it, you'll be able to take part in a number of new streaming tools that are the best the company's made to date.

The device will enable users to record and stream across Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and Wii U (perfect for those Mario Kart zealots), using 60 frames per second speed at 1080p quality. The option to record retroactively will also be present, and Twitch, YouTube and other social channels can be connected in a snap. In addition, you'll be able to share with one click on Facebook and Twitter, as well as talk through your games through live commentary.

The device will be available for $179.99, and can be pre-ordered here at Best Buy.

1080p60 over USB 2.0 sounds like a nightmare in the making for third-party software like OBS. The original Game Capture HD already has its own fair share of issues, with mediocre driver support and the usual encode/decode lag inherent to USB 2.0 capture devices. Having passthrough is a nice advantage over the ExtremeCap U3 from AVerMedia, and if you absolutely need an external capture device but don't want to spring for an XCAPTURE-1 I guess it will have its place.

Unless the person uses self-hosting and a HTML5 video player, there isn't many options for 60fps video uploading. It's why I haven't switched to an external video upload source on http://mattplays.com - although I've heard that YouTube is considering 60fps videos.

They're not considering, it's confirmed and will be rolling out in the coming months.
