World Wrestling Entertainment has certainly become known for its rivalries over the years, and 2K Sports is ready to celebrate that with the announcement of a new mode in WWE 2K15.

In 2K Showcase, a new campaign for the game, you'll be able to see how the best rivalries in the company play out, through high-quality cinematics and historic WWE footage. Here, players will be able to explore two of the biggest rivalries in the company to date.

The first has former Degeneration X partners Triple H and "The Heartbreak Kid" Shawn Michaels going at it in a rivalry that spans from 2002 to 2004. Those preferring something more current will enjoy the second one, as John Cena butts heads with CM Punk in a rivalry for the WWE Championship that goes from 2011 to 2013.

“The moment Triple H ended his longtime friendship with ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ by slamming him with a Pedigree was a defining moment in WWE history,” said Chris Snyder, Vice President of Marketing at 2K. “No fan can deny the fierce competition marking the notorious battles waged between Cena and Punk. These two rivalries are firmly etched in WWE history, and 2K Showcase enables fans to take part in those memorable experiences.”

Throughout each rivalry (in which various matches are available), players can complete a bonus set of historical objectives that will allow the unlocking of new WWE superstars, Championship titles and other goods, all playable within WWE 2K15's many modes.

Triple H himself, Paul Levesque, who is also executive vice president for talent, live events and creative at WWE, had plenty to say about the new mode. “Featuring two of the biggest rivalries in WWE history, including my storied matches with Shawn Michaels, there’s no doubt fans will experience the thrill first-hand through WWE 2K15,” said Triple H. “2K Showcase brings WWE to life in a way our fans have never seen before through a video game.”

More rivalries will join up via DLC starting October 28th. Specific names weren't mentioned, but an Undertaker/Kane spotlight would definitely hit the spot. CHOKESLAM!

WWE 2K15 will release on October 28th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as well as PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

This game is looking oddly compelling. The last wrestling game I was really into was one of them on the PS2 that had a career story mode and I took Chris Benoit to the top. This was all before it was weird to play to play as Chris Benoit, he just had a last name I grew up around.
