Back in 2012, Activision announced an interesting collaboration on the music front for its forthcoming sci-fi shooter, Bungie's Destiny, that featured (former) composer Marty O'Donnell working alongside former Beatle Paul McCartney. Now, it appears that McCartney will be taking the message of Destiny to a more mainstream medium, as the New York Times reports that the game's main theme song will actually be produced as a single shortly following the game's release.

Lev Chapelsky, the general manager of Blindlight, stated that McCartney's Destiny single, still yet unnamed, will debut "soon after the game is released." And considering that title will arrive on shelves September 9th, that means we'll probably have it in time for early fall.

The single was put together at the legendary Abbey Road studio, with Giles Martin guiding a 120-piece ensemble. Producer Mark Stent, who worked with such acts as U2 and Lady Gaga, recorded the session.

It sounds like a big push leading into Destiny's release next month, but, still, we can't help but wonder how the song will go. Here's hoping McCartney mentions how the wizard came from the moon, eh?
