The Last of Us: Remastered is out now on PS4 and it's already standing out as an example of a re-release done right. So just how well has Naughty Dog done with restoring the game's graphics for a whole new console generation?

The crew at Shacknews have put forward the PS3 and new PS4 versions of The Last of Us for graphical comparison. You can draw your own conclusions by watching the video below. (Warning: Spoilers for the game's opening scene are contained within.)

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

I got to be honest, I laughed around the 55 second mark when you were showing the PS3 version and one of the NPC's was just running into the wall.

I saw that too, I'm glad the PS4 has the power to fix that. AI For ALL!

doesn't look like this video is 60 fps, so the comparison isn't ideal.

I always find it tough judging how much better games look based on streaming videos. Even the best leave something to be desired.

I never played LoU on the PS3, but it looks decent on the PS4. Doesn't look AMAZING or anything; there's still a little bit of pop-in of vegetation and that sort of thing, but overall it looks good. I don't regret waiting one bit.
