Halo: The Master Chief Collection video shows overhauled Halo 2 cinematics

343 and Blur are looking to fully overhaul and restore nearly every aspect of Halo 2 for Halo: The Master Chief Collection. You can check out their work so far with a new cinematic trailer unveiled at Comic-Con.

Undoubtedly, one of the biggest draws of Halo: The Master Chief Collection is the full restoration that Halo 2 will receive. 343 Industries and Blur Studios have been hard at work to give the 2004 classic the full Anniversary Edition treatment that was similarly given to Halo: Combat Evolved and the fruits of their labor are being shown with a new cinematic trailer revealed at this year's San Diego Comic-Con.

The trailer below will show off a number of classic Halo 2 cutscenes, reconstructed from scratch to fit a more modern aesthetic, looking far closer to what's been on display in more recent Halo games. This is among the the many upgrades that 343 has promised for Halo 2, having previously mentioned that Halo 2 will contain "additional fiction" to help flesh out Master Chief's story further and even offer some hints as to what's coming in next year's Halo 5: Guardians.

Watch the whole thing below and remember, if you don't like it, there's always the option to use classic graphics. Halo: The Master Chief Collection will arrive on November 11 on Xbox One.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?

Microsofts commitment to PC will never happen if it even remotely undermines Xbox sales.

Can't say. We've had shitty ports.

I did pretty well with Halo CE and 2. KB and mouse worked as I'd expect them to.

Same here. I played Halo1/2 on the PC, and 3/Reach/4 on the console.

At the time I thought Halo PC was fine. Had some good times there, although that mostly was a factor of who I played with.

I tried it sort-of-recently and was put off by some weird mouse accel, but obviously that's not an issue inherent to the game.

The thing that's always going to affect any console-to-PC FPS port is that it is much easier to get headshots w/ a mouse. But with Halo (singleplayer) you're constantly rotating through a weird array of weapons, for many of which headshots don't even matter. Also there's some weight to the sniper rifle that reduces the ability to fling it around between targets like a Q3 railgun.

I dunno, it's been a long time but I remember it as being fun. I'd like to have a nicely polished port to try it again.

Halo CE's multiplayer was a blast on PC. Some of the new maps were pretty great, too. Designed for the larger numbers so they werent as tight as the console ones.

They aren't going to kick the legs out from under one of the bigger XBox One exclusive games by announcing it for PC.

If it comes to PC it will be announced at E3 next year. And be released in late summer as the ad campaign for Halo 5 is kicking in to high gear.

      Hey that's quite nice!

Halo 2 had not-so-good human-character models, so it's a huge change for the better. Wonder what the in-game people will look like.
