The Evil Within's release date bumped up a week

Horror-fest will arrive a little earlier in October

Over the weekend, Bethesda's The Evil Within turned out to be one of the bigger highlights at QuakeCon, as gamers were able to go hands-on with the latest scarefest from Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and his team at Tango Gameworks. So obviously, it was the perfect spot to reveal that the game was coming sooner than originally announced.

First intended for release on August 26th, the game was delayed to October 21st in an announcement earlier this year. Now, Bethesda has confirmed that it's coming out a week earlier, slated for arrival on October 14th for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 and PC. Perfect for that Halloween gaming sort of mood.

A word of advice: when you do get around to playing the game, play with the lights off. It's way better.
