Hello, and goodbye

Hey Shackers, I've had a great time being the EIC of Shacknews, but it's now time to say goodbye.

Hey Shackers,

It's been a while since we've last chatted. If you've been a front pager, you may have noticed that I haven't been around as of late. It's been three years since I joined Shack. Since then, I think our team has done a tremendous job. My motto has always been "we're one of the few sites with the word News in the name," and I think we did an excellent job of bringing you top-quality no-nonsense news. Sure, there were some flubs along the way, but I think we've excelled well beyond the resources given to us.

A few weeks ago, I decided to leave my position as Editor-in-Chief to make way for a new, energized, passionate team. Don't worry, the incredibly talented Steve Watts and Ozzie Mejia are still serving the site strong. But, there's a new guard in town, one that's unafraid to try new things. There's bound to be some hits and misses, but the new team led by Steven Wong have proven that they're willing to try new things--and most importantly, make sure that Chatty is at the center of it all.

Soon, you'll be seeing a brand new Shacknews, one that reflects the energy and vision of the new team. It looks absolutely gorgeous. I'm excited to browse the site, not as a writer, but as a reader--and I couldn't be more excited.

Make sure you continue to provide your feedback in Chatty. Wong & company are a truly receptive bunch, and they're here to make Shack the site it can and should be. If you want to follow more of my exploits post-Shack, feel free to follow me on Twitter @scxzor. I'll be fumbling through the terrifying world of game design, and it'll be great to have you join me on this crazy ride.

Farewell,

Andrew

Andrew Yoon was previously a games journalist creating content at Shacknews.

I'm not a fan of this new wave of online media sites with the emphasis on the headlines or article titles and very little consideration of the articles themselves. Sad to see you go but I'm hoping you'll find your way to where your talents are appreciated and you don't find yourself competing with available ad space.

Goodbye May version of Andrew. I just looked at your present version on twitter and he seems to be doing just fine, so don't fret.

So terrible to hear about Andrew's passing. I was always a big fan. My favorite moment was when he stayed up practically all night so he could review the PS4. He sounded ROUGH the next morning on Weekend Confirmed.
