Gearbox Software returns with Battleborn

The developer of Borderlands returns with a new, yet familiar, project.

Have you been wondering what Gearbox Software has been up to, since it's not fully handling the development of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and has shuffled off Aliens: Colonial Marines like it didn't exist? Well, now we know. The developer has unveiled Battleborn, a new first-person adventure that will be published by 2K Games.

Game Informer reports that Battleborn is a "fusion of first-person shooting and loot-grabbling RPG elements in a living comic book art style." So, like Borderlands, except not. And with a medieval fantasy touch, it seems.

The game will feature MOBA-like elements put into a first-person perspective, and feature a huge gallery of playable characters, including some that can be unlocked over the course of the game.

A release date hasn't been given yet, but the game is in development for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Seeing as how PAX Prime is due next month (and Gearbox always plays a big hand during the show), you can probably expect more details around that time.
